Resource Description:

In 1989 the Canadian Government unanimously passed a resolution in the House of Commons to eliminate child poverty by the year 2000. The 2001 Nova Scotia Child Poverty Report Card provides the lastest statistics onchild poverty available. It shows how Nova Scotia compares to the other provinces in Canada when looking at child poverty rates nation wide. At present, Nova Scotia is among the 5 provinces with higher rates of child poverty. More Nova Scotia children live in poverty tody than did in 1989 when the promise was made. The government of Canada needs to be reminded of the promise it made in 1989.
